We have seen an increase in the number of drivers detected driving heavy vehicles that have been affected by methamphetamine in 2015 as compared to 2014. We have seen an increase in the number of drivers more broadly affected by ice while driving a motor car.
There is a misconception that by using ice, those drivers may be able to stay awake longer, they may be able to be more alert behind the wheel,
That is a myth. These people use these drugs at their own peril. These people will be alert for a certain amount of time but that alertness is artificial - the need for sleep will increase and hence the risks on the road will increase.
